What to expect when playing U.S. college baseball:
Spring Semester
- Baseball is a Spring sport, played in the second half of the U.S. school year.
- Games are usually played between mid-February and late-May.
- You can expect to play approximately 50-55 games in an average season.
- You will also be practicing up to 20 hours per week during the season.
Fall Semester
- The Fall is the off-season for baseball.
- You can expect to practice 8 hours a week during the majority of Fall.
- There is a 6 week period when 20 hour practice weeks are permitted.
- In addition to training, 1-2 practice games will be scheduled in preparation for the upcoming spring season.
Men’s baseball programs all over the U.S. participate under all governing bodies and divisions.
NCAA

The NCAA endorses three divisions of collegiate baseball.
Division I
- Currently sponsor 297 baseball programs
- 11.7 full baseball scholarships are available per team
Division II
- Currently sponsor 267 baseball programs
- 9 full baseball scholarships are available per team
Division III
- Currently sponsor 389 baseball programs
- Financial aid is available but is not considered athletic scholarship
NJCAA

- Currently sponsor 385 baseball programs across three divisions
- 24 full baseball scholarships available across all divisions
NAIA
The NAIA endorses one division of collegiate baseball
- Currently sponsor 187 baseball programs
- 12 full baseball scholarships available
